Middle East (Sharjah) New Energy Auto Show: A New Journey towards a Green Future

2024-08-01

From October 15th to 18th, 2025, the Sharjah Expo Center in the United Arab Emirates will host the first electric vehicle exhibition in the Middle East - EVS

Sharjah, as the third largest emirate in the United Arab Emirates, is becoming a leader in the Middle East's new energy vehicle industry with its significant market demand and policy support. Sharjah Taxi Company has upgraded 83% of its vehicles to hybrid and eco-friendly models, and has set ambitious goals to achieve a 100% eco-friendly fleet by 2027. This measure not only demonstrates Sharjah's commitment to green transportation, but also highlights the urgent need for new energy vehicles.

The policy level support has also injected vitality into the new energy vehicle market in Sharjah and even the entire Middle East region. The UAE government's electric vehicle promotion plan and Saudi Arabia's target for the proportion of electric vehicles provide a solid policy foundation for industry development. Market research firm Data Bridge Market Research predicts that the compound annual growth rate of the Middle East electric vehicle market will reach 28.1% between 2023 and 2030, while Mordor Intelligence's research suggests that the market size will reach $3.33 billion and $9.42 billion in 2024 and 2029, respectively.

Chinese new energy vehicle companies have also keenly seized this market opportunity. According to Mordor Intelligence, the market value of electric vehicles in the Middle East and Africa was $40.25 million in 2021, and is expected to grow to $93.1 million by 2027, demonstrating an annual growth rate of over 15%. In Israel, Chinese electric vehicles have occupied 61% of the market share, and sales of brands such as BYD have significantly increased. In Jordan, the sales of Chinese brand electric vehicles increased from 72 units in 2019 to 33386 units in 2023, reflecting strong growth momentum.

The Sharjah New Energy Vehicle Show (EVS 2025) is not only a stage for Chinese car companies to showcase their strength, but also a barometer for the development of the global new energy vehicle industry. With the acceleration of global energy transformation and the deepening implementation of economic diversification strategies in the Middle East, Sharjah and the Middle East are becoming hot spots for Chinese new energy vehicle companies to "go global", demonstrating unlimited market potential and cooperation opportunities.
